Me with the fantastic musical team

Recording has begun! So far I am really enjoying the process. Mitch Dane is a wonderful producer and great person to work with. We’ve recorded all but 3 of the guitar parts as of yesterday. Then we wanted a sweeter, more mellow guitar sound, and set off in search of a cedar top guitar. I had my mom ship off my Greg Brandt, which safely arrived this morning. However, Mitch had contacted Michael Card in the meantime to ask if we could possibly borrow a classical guitar, and Michael said yes! So we dropped by his studio this afternoon to pick it up, and I got to see the person who has so influenced my songwriting. What is even more wonderful about the guitar we are borrowing is that it once belonged to John Michael Talbot, who gave it Michael Card when they did their “Brother to Brother” album. Both have been such an influence in my music and writing. I am thankful for all these blessings, and the opportunity to be here on this great adventure!

I am excited to be recording a new CD this fall! After a long search for the right producer for the project, I have decided to go with Mitch Dane, producer for Jars of Clay, JJ Heller, Lara Landon, and many other well-known artists. Working with Mitch will require a trip to Nashville, so it will be a new adventure! If you would like to join me in this endeavor, you can come along for the ride in a variety of ways. There are links below to pre-buy CDs, donate, purchase special packages, etc. CDs should be ready to mail out by the end of January or early February.

Thanks for the many ways you support this music! I hope that through it, you will be blessed.

Enjoying the beauty of my hometown (Littleton, CO) while on concert tour.

I had a great time creating these videos at Viansa Winery in Sonoma. Many thanks to Steve O’Neill and William Redenbaugh for their sound and video expertise!

For the past 3 years or so, I have had the joy of playing at Rominger West Winery, a wonderful music venue here in Davis. Last night was the last show, as they are closing. It was one of the most enjoyable evenings I have played there, with a great audience and joyous energy. I wish to thank Mark West for the years of providing a venue for local music, and to share with all of you a video my friend took last night of one of my newest songs ,”Empty.” You can find it at the link here:

My sister directed me to this beautiful depiction of Mary (or the woman of the alabaster jar) at the feet of Jesus. It shows one of my favorites stories from the gospels. This is where I want to be, at the feet of the One who forgives, the One who sees and yet loves unconditionally. I think of art as this outpouring of fragrance, something beautiful, not financially useful, but an exquisite gift of love. We all have a gift to bring the Savior. When we know we’ve been redeemed and truly, deeply loved by the one who is Love, who is perfection, we want to bring Him something beautiful. And this is what the music is, a gift of love given to the Savior in gratitude, something the world may see as wasteful, but understood as valuable and beautiful by the One who receives all of our small gifts with great love.
